Other settings
This sections allows to configure some options which affects X-Arc's
behaviour. Available gadgets are:
- DropIcon action: indicates which operation should be performed
whenever an archive is dropped onto the appicon of iconified program.
X-Arc can simply open the dropped archive, open it and extract its contents
to the default extraction directory (see functions/extract) or
add the dropped file to the current archive. In this case, if
there's no opened archive, X-Arc will try to open the dropped file as an
archive.
Output to: tells X-Arc where to write the output
produced by all operations it performs. If you want no output all you have
to do is enter NIL: here. Otherwise you can enter CON: to have
the output displayed in a console window, or some file name.
Default archive directory: indicates to the program which
directory should be open by default whenever you select Open for the first
time or click on the corresponding button in the main window.
Documentation directory: informs X-Arc about the
directory containing its documentation files. By entering the correct path
here, you will be able to access the on-line documentation by pressing the
HELP key or by selecting Documentation from the Project
menu. If you press the HELP key, X-Arc will display the section about
the object that is currently under the mouse pointer.
Read documentation using: indicates X-Arc how to
display the documentation files. You can choose between using file types
or opening a window containing a MUI object HTMLText, provided that
you have installed it. This class has not been included with
X-Arc because it is not necessary for normal program operations. Its only
purpose is to show documentation files.
Ask before deleting: specifies if X-Arc should open a warning
requester when the user tries to delete some files from archive. This
is to prevent undesired deletions.
Un-Iconify: this checkmark tells X-Arc to uniconify itself
whenever a file is dropped onto its iconified-state icon. If this checkmark is
ticked, X-Arc opens its GUI and then performs the operations indicated by the
'DropIcon action' gadget on top.
Always ask for destination forces X-Arc to open the extraction window each time you
try to extract some files. If this checkmark is not ticked, that window only
opens if no destination has been specified, or if you choose the corresponding
menu item.
Only show archives in the ArchiveRequester: if this checkmark is selected, the requester
that X-Arc opens when you hit on the Open button will shows only archives. Please note that
archives are recognised by using the ArchiveTypes settings, not just by reading the filename, but also
file's contents, so the scanning of the directory is slower if this checkmark is enabled.
